  • HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has ordered an enquiry in to the claims by two IIT coaching institutes FIITJEE and Aakash Insitute regarding the coaching of last years IIT topper Nitin Jain.

In May 2009, after the IIT JEE results were announced, both  FITJEE and Aakash claimed that the first rank holder Nitin Jain was their student. While FITJEE published a letter from Mr. Jain Aaakash released his enrollment form.

Responding to a complaint by Mr. Chiranji Lal Jain, father of Nitin Jain, the HRD minister has ordered an enquiry against these institutions and said that the ministry would initiate appropriate action if they were found guilty.

    Careers360's advice to students
: One way for you the student to identify the veracity of these claims is to understand the nature of coaching provided by these institutions. For example, Nitin Jain did two years of classroom coaching with FIITJEE and a correspondence course with Aakash. You must decide, which one is more appropriate for you.

A policy with appropriate punitive actions  governing advertising by any institution/ organisation working in the education sector would go a long way in curtailing this menace.
