EAST CLUSTER

THE outlook of the Eastern cluster has seen a welcome change, owing to the rapid surge in the number of good institutions offering management education.
 
Not long ago, MBA aspirants who could not find a seat in either IIM Calcutta or XLRI Jamshedpur had to travel elsewhere and look at other options. From an IIM in Shillong to the School of Management at IIT Kharagpur; from the  programme offerings with social agenda at XISS Ranchi, XIM Bhubhaneswar and IISWBM Kolkata to management departments in technology institutes like BIT Mesra and ISM Dhanbad, one now has a platter of choices.

With the growth in both manufacturing and services, the setting up of new industrial units in the region holds enough employment opportunities for management students. We see an interesting mix of both government and private B-Schools, though the quality of teaching and research are concerns for most of them.
