  • FOR quite sometime, public sector has dominated the B-school pecking order. Though they still do at the top, (seven out of the Top 10 B-Schools are still in the public domain), their hold evoporates as we move to Tier-1 and Tier-2 schools. Here we list out the top 22 public B-Schools in the country. The evaluation is based on 18 parameters ranging from student quality, placements to faculty. (Read more on methodology)

The scoring is based on a Max: Min Schema. So invariably one institution would get the maximum marks for each parameter and one or more would get a zero. The beauty of such an evaluation is that the if the data has integrity, natural clusters would be formed which can then be identified as a particular Tier.

  • Some how I do not agree with the rankings since the scale and weightage given to what parameters adopted also changes result. In normal parlance its the ISB, IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, IIML, FMS, MDI, NITIE, IIT-Delhi & IIT-Mumbai business schools, Great Lakes, IMT, etc. The newer IIMs' & IITs' business school programs have yet to come up and most of these Indian business schools suffer from lack of quality research. They make good job seekers but not good job creators.
