The full form of AFT is Armed Forces Tribunal. A military court in India is called the Armed Forces Tribunal. It became a legal entity on August 8, 2009, and the Armed Forces Tribunal Act of 2007 created it. The Armed Forces Tribunal's mission, authority, and duties are crucial for UPSC preparation. The Army Act of 1950, the Navy Act of 1957, and the Air Force Act of 1950 govern commissions, appointments, enrolments, and conditions of service for individuals. The Parliament passed the Armed Forces Tribunal Act of 2007 and established the AFT with the authority to resolve or seek disputes and complaints in these areas.
According to the 2008 Armed Forces Tribunal (Procedure) guidelines, the Tribunal shall do its function. The language of the Tribunal's hearings is English. The Tribunal will typically follow the process used in India's High Courts. The mandatory attire for Tribunal personnel, including the bar, is a white shirt, a black coat or jacket, and a collar band.
AFT also has regional benches in Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Jabalpur, Srinagar, and Jaipur, in addition to the Principal Bench in New Delhi.
