Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) was established in 1981 to provide students with the opportunity of pursuing higher education in the management domain. The admission process for the courses offered at NMIMS has been kept simple and straightforward since the very beginning. The most important facet of the admission process at NMIMS is the information related to entrance exams accepted by NMIMS and the process of applying.

Information pertaining to the entrance exams accepted by NMIMS forms the basic eligibility criteria that must be met by every prospective applicant before applying for management degrees offered by the institution. The institute of NMIMS is extremely particular about the admission process, whose primary focus relies on the scorecard obtained by the applicant in one or more of the entrance exams accepted by NMIMS.

The entrance exams accepted by NMIMS differ in a few categories. These categories are the distinction between the foreign and Indian applicants, and the applicant applying for postgraduate courses, for instance, MBA or applying for the undergraduate courses, for instance, BBA, BSC, or B.A. LLB. (HONS). The details of the exams accepted by NMIMS for different courses and applicants, in addition to the process of applying, are discussed further in the article.

NMIMS: Entrance Exams Accepted by NMIMS

The entrance exams accepted by NMIMS differ on the courses an applicant is applying for and the nationality of the applicant. These are the two categories on which the NMIMS admission’s eligibility criteria differ. The applicants who are applying for undergraduate courses have to undertake the common entrance exam created by NMIMS itself for students willing to take admission in the undergraduate courses offered at the institute after completion of their 12th standard examinations or equivalent degree. The name of the entrance exam created by NMIMS for the 12th standard pass-outs is NPAT which stands for National Test for Programs After Twelfth.

For applicants applying for postgraduate courses, the entrance exams accepted by NMIMS is the NMAT conducted by GMAC. Hence, for taking admission in the postgraduate courses in NMIMS, the applicant must submit the scores obtained in NMAT to be considered eligible for the further selection process.

The entrance exams accepted by NMIMS also differ on the accounts of nationality; the applicants who hold Indian nationality have to submit the scores of NPAT, or NMAT depending on the course they have applied for. Whereas, the applicants who are of foreign nationality have to submit the scores of GMAT, IELTS, or TOEFL as the accepted entrance exams scorecards by NMIMS.
