From its inception in 2012, the Chandigarh University has now turned itself into one of the popular education hubs of north India. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in different streams such as engineering, law, arts, management, commerce and pharmacy.

Chandigarh University admissions are offered via two channels - Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) and merit of the last qualifying examination.

The application mode of Chandigarh University is both offline and online. The online application form of Chandigarh University is made available on the official website of the university, whereas for offline application forms the candidates have to walk up to the university admission offices or authorized centres.

The Chandigarh University admissions are conducted in three different phases, as per the convenience of the candidates. To aid students financially, the university also provides upto 100% scholarship for the top scorer of CUCET examination.

Who is eligible for admissions in Chandigarh University?

While the university offers a diverse range of programmes in various streams, the basic eligibility criteria of Chandigarh University remains the same for all the programmes.

  • For UG programmes, the candidates must have passed class 10+2 examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks.

  • Candidates who wish to take admission in PG programmes must have passed a bachelor's level programme from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.

(Note - The candidates who are awaiting for their final year results are also eligible to apply for admission to their desired programme)

Chandigarh University admission through CUCET

The CUCET entrance examination was initiated a year back to assess students based on their knowledge in the applied subject and analytical ability. CUCET is an entrance cum scholarship test. The idea behind the CUCET entrance test is to reward the meritorious students with a scholarship programme and assist them in providing affordable education.

While it is necessary for the candidates who are applying for B.E, B.Pharmacy, MBA, Integrated Law programs (BA+LLB, BBA+LLB, BCom+LLB) and B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture programme to appear in the CUCET exam, the candidates who have scored 90% marks in the last qualifying examination are exempted from the exam. The online examination is conducted in the various exam centres around the country. The total duration of the CUCET exam is two hours. The result of Chandigarh University (CUCET) is sent to the candidates through email on their registered email address and is also published on the official website of the university. The shortlisted candidates are invited for the counselling based on their ranking obtained in the entrance examination. To avail the scholarship benefits offered through CUCET exam, the candidates have to submit the 30% of total fees within 15 days of the declaration.

Chandigarh University admission based on merit

The candidates who do not wish to appear for the entrance examination can also grab a seat based on their last qualifying examination marks. However, they will not be entitled to the CUCET scholarship benefits. Such candidates need to fill up their academic details and other information required in the application form. A merit list will be released by the university based on the past academic performance of the candidates. The Chandigarh University merit list mentions the rank of the candidates assigned to them and their last qualifying examination marks. The qualified candidates need to visit the campus and complete the admission formalities. It must be noted that those candidates who have rank upto 50000 in JEE examination are also eligible for admission in BTech programme offered by the university.

Hello there,

If you've already completed your B.Com graduation under Calcutta University and you wish to pursue an LLB degree, it will typically take 3 years to complete the LLB course.

Key Points:

  • Duration : The LLB course for graduates is a 3-year program, not 5 years. The 5-year program is designed for students who join immediately after completing their higher secondary education (12th grade), which integrates a bachelor's degree with law (BA LLB, B.Com LLB, etc.).

  • Degree : Since you've already completed your B.Com, after completing the 3-year LLB course, you will earn a standalone LLB degree . It won't be labeled as BA LLB or B.Com LLB because those are integrated courses that combine a bachelor's degree with law.

In summary, for you, it will be a 3-year LLB program leading to an LLB degree.
