LPU Evaluation Process

Lovely Professional University has created a University Management System (UMS), which can be accessible by both faculty and students, to facilitate easy evaluation. This software serves as a useful interface between students, professors, and management. It is used mostly by the University for a variety of functions, but for semester results, it publishes students' marks together with the evaluated answer sheets allowing them to file a dispute for revaluation if there are any discrepancies. The University follows a pre-determined step-by-step method in which the answer sheets are reviewed by two to three faculty members on a division basis. Before being scrutinised, the marks are punched on the UMS and are visible to the students. If students are unhappy with the evaluation, they can file a complaint, and the sheets will be re-evaluated and uploaded on the UMS.

Every student at LPU has the chance to review their graded answer sheets. If a student is unsatisfied with the results, then they can apply for revaluation of the answer booklet. After 15 days, the Division of Examination publishes an online notice outlining the processes and deadlines for requesting a re-evaluation of answer copies. Each student is obliged to pay a revaluation fee as determined by the university. The revised scores will be updated in the candidate's mark sheet by the concerned authorities after the revaluation procedure is completed.

LPU Basis of Evaluation and Grading

University uses Broadband Letter Grades to report a student’s performance. Each letter grade indicates the level of performance in a course and has an associated grade point value as per the following table:

  • The re-evaluation process should be done in a completely confidential manner. Thus, re-evaluator 1 and re-evaluator 2 must remain anonymous to each other.

  • Decorum must be observed inside the venue and discussions of any sort are strictly prohibited.

  • The nearest average marks awarded originally and after re-evaluation shall be considered as final marks scored by the student. For example, the student had originally scored 30 marks but is later awarded 35 and 44 marks by the re-evaluator. In this case nearest two marks of three evaluations i.e. 30 and 35 are considered while marks awarded by re-evaluator 2 are rejected. Further, the average of two nearest marks determines the provisional outcome of re-evaluation.

  • The score determined after the re-evaluation is compared with the original score and in case of change, the following procedure shall be followed:

  1. If the difference between marks scored after re-evaluation and original marks is more than 10% of original marks, then the marks obtained after re-evaluation are considered final.

  2. However, if the difference between marks scored after re-evaluation and original marks is less than 10% of original marks, then the original marks obtained by the student shall be considered as final unless a change of marks leads to a change in grade.

  3. Additionally, if the marks obtained by the student during re-evaluation are less than the original marks, then in all such cases, the original marks awarded shall be treated as final.
