Study Abroad: Countries, courses, tests, visas, more!

A study by education consulting firm MeritTrac says that over 800 institutes from 43 countries visited India either directly or through their agents seeking students. The India story is intact and flourishing when it comes to education. With nearly half of its eligible population unable to pursue higher education in India, plenty of opportunities exist for foreign  institutions. And the situation is a win-win for both the sides. Good Indian students, who otherwise could not get into a great college due to a variety of reasons, are able to get great education, though at a price.

The decision to go abroad could be for a variety of reasons. Some do so primarily to study programmes that are just not available in India, like Nanomaterial Physics or Digital Visual Merchandising. Some others go to experience an iconic school or university, like Oxford or New York school of Films or  a Grand Ecole. But majority of students go to earn a qualification that adds value to their career and help them get better jobs. In other words, immigration too is on the minds of many of the students.

Below we have focused on three areas: Advisories to help you make an informed decisions, Tests, Countries. What is the timeline for admissions? Where should a student go for his studies? Another speciality of this issue is the test preparation section that we have put together. Various testing agencies that conduct exams like GRE, TOEFL and IELTS give you their perspective on how to crack the entrance exams.
