ASEEM stands for Atmanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping. It is the directory of the skilled workforce maintained by the skill management information system. The portal intends to enhance information flow and close the skilled labour market's supply-demand gap. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is the nodal ministry for ASEEM, and the Betterplace company based in Bengaluru is working with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to create and maintain the portal. 1.3 crore candidates, including those who registered directly and those who registered via the Skill India Portal, were listed on the ASEEM portal as of July 16, 2021. It acts as a platform to match talented workers with a potential employers, benefiting both the parties and the government.
The ASEEM portal, which is the official online portal for the ASEEM project aims to help job seekers find relevant jobs easily. It was created to tackle the unemployment issue raised due to the covid 19 Pandemic. The portal can be accessed through https://smis.nsdcindia.org and also through its app available in Playstore and Appstore. The portal uses modern technologies to provide the best service.
For job seekers, the portal helps in building skills and profiles, sharing resumes with employers, job matching services, and training facilities.
For employers, the portal helps to locate talent, collect data and recruit skilled workers.
For training partners, it acts as a platform to provide placement for their students, understand the trending skills, and a way to earn income.
For the government they help in understanding the skill mix in the country, understanding the job market, and helping to tackle unemployment.
It works similarly to other job portals:
The skilled workers can register in the portal or app, update their details like work experience, location, skills, etc and apply for available jobs.
The employer can register themself in the portal, verify their details and search for talents from the pool of candidates.
The portal act as a connecting link between the employer and employees.
It will offer real-time predictive analytics about the patterns of demand and supply, including skill gap analysis, industry requirements, demand by district, state, or cluster, major labour suppliers, key consumers, migration patterns, and a variety of prospective career opportunities for applicants.
It will make it possible for policymakers to view various economic sectors with more objectivity.
It would gradually re-engineer the vocational training environment in the nation, ensuring skilling, up-skilling, and reskilling in a well-organised setting, driven by the Prime Minister's claim of "India as a talent powerhouse" at the India Global Week 2020 Summit.
