Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) are established in schools of India under NITI Ayog. ATLs aims in inculcating curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds of our children.It is a setup under a mission named ‘Atal Innovation Mission’ (AIM). The Vision is to ‘Cultivate one Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’.AIM is the Indian Government’s program to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.It provides STEM [Science,technology,engineering and Maths] lab based skill training to students in India.It contain tinkering kits to be used in workshops with training and guidance from qualified mentors.This provide students with skills for all future proof jobs.

What Is ATL?

Atal Tinkering Lab(ATL) is an initiative by NITI Ayog (National Institution for Transforming India) Government of India aimed at encouraging the scientific temper in Students.AIM( Atal Innovation Mission) is establishing Labs at Schools in the country to equip the students with creative, computational and technological skills.

What Is NITI Ayog?

NITI Ayog is a government of India division National Institution for transforming India.This is a chief policy making unit of Government of India. NITI Ayog has two hubs, Team India Hub and Knowledge and innovation hub.The knowledge and technical wing guides the project of ATL for promoting innovative ideas and thinking capability in students by providing skill training and practical projects.

What Is Atal Innovation Mission?

Atal Innovation Mission is a Flagship programme of Government of India to create and foster Innovative thinking and entrepreneurship in schools,research institutes and Industries.

  • ATLconducts different activities like regional and national level competitions, exhibitions, workshops on problem-solving, designing and DIY procedures,lecture series etc. at periodic intervals.

Eligibility of ATL

  • Should be any Government, Aided or Self financing Schools, Educational institutions with classes IV to X.

  • Should possess infrastructure for the Lab.

  • Minimum 1500 sq ft Space for Lab construction.

  • Should have enough facilities like Science lab,Steady electric connection,computer lab,Library and Playground.

How Is The Funding Of ATL

NITI ayog will give grants up to Twenty Lakhs for schools who meet the eligibility.First installment of 10 lakhs will be for establishment development and for purchasing of prototypes and kits and second installment will be given after 5 years.
