AI has become one of the buzzwords in today’s world. Artificial Intelligence and robotics is booming nowadays but there are some sectors or more precisely some jobs which are evergreen.
We can surely get an article on nurses using the ChatGPT but we cannot get a professional nurse who can take care of the patients day in, day out. Similarly we can learn anything and everything using the internet but what about the teachers, who not only teach the chapters from books but also give us the best life lessons. In one word, AI and Robotics may be the future but without human beings nothing can be possible. In this article, we will be discussing such fields where careers and jobs are less affected by AI and Robotics.
Healthcare is the best example of the evergreen job sector. Healthcare is a sector where we need more machinery and new technologies to upscale the healthcare system, but no machines and AI can take the place of the professionals. Some of the most important careers in healthcare sectors are Doctor, Nurse, Psychologist, Psychiatrist. Doctors are professionals who examine patients and determine their medical conditions, illnesses and prescribe medicines and provide them with surgical and medical assistance.
Nurses work along with physicians and other healthcare professionals to treat patients and maintain their physical and mental well-being. Psychologists work to understand and evaluate an individual's feelings, thoughts, and behaviour. In order to come up with hypotheses about the feelings and thoughts that affect people, they implement methods like observation, evaluation, and experimentation. Psychiatrists are physicians who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders. They also prescribe medications and other medical procedures.
Engineering sector is one of the most important sectors in India. Every student after 10+2 generally opt for engineering, and it is very common to the majority of the household in India. It is obvious to think that AI will eliminate all the jobs in the engineering domain but that is not the case, as some careers like civil engineering, electronic engineering, transportation engineering will never get affected by AI and Robotics. Although these careers in the engineering domain will get elevated by the inventions of robotics and machine learning.
Civil engineers contribute to the construction and upkeep of infrastructures like highways, bridges, buildings, and water supplies. By building the networks and facilities required to make transportation feasible, they assist in facilitating the transportation of individuals, products, water, and electricity. Electronics engineers create and build a variety of electronic devices, such as portable audio players and Global Positioning System (GPS) devices, as well as broadcast and communications systems. An engineer who designs or enhances transportation systems to enable safe and reliable traffic movement on roads, aircraft, trains, ships, and buses is known as a transportation engineer.
Technology is booming at present and this plays an important role in every sector, even in arts and humanities. Drawing, painting, sculpting, and possibly architecture and photography are all included in the broad field of fine arts. Computers are becoming increasingly important in creative fields like science, music, design, and fine arts. Computers have already become a canvas for artists and are also being used as instruments while singing. But can we say that machines can take the place of human beings in the field of fine arts, then the answer will be ‘no’.
Photographers use the photographs that they take with their cameras to create narratives. Through their art, they convey their distinctiveness and opinions. Photographers can display their artistic ability in a range of photographic genres, including fashion, commercial work, travel, sports, and wildlife. Photographs and visual designs for periodical articles, journals, product packaging, and film and television productions are the responsibility of the art director. They produce the general project design, and they often offer instruction to those who create the design.
Actors interpret a writer's screenplay in order to entertain or educate an audience. In theatre, film, television, and other performing arts media, actors convey ideas and play different roles. A musician is someone who performs or plays an instrument, whether professionally or just for enjoyment. Musicians compose, perform, and interpret songs in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, pop, rock, hip-hop. Painter offers objects a polished, completed appearance. Painting and drawing professionals paint, stain, and cover walls, buildings, bridges, and other structures using brushes, rollers, and power sprayers.
Travel and tourism industry is something that provides us with joy and pleasure. You must be thinking that it is not entertainment or media then how can we claim this. In the days when we are all stuck at home in pandemics, and watching television all day, we used to crave for going out and having a cup of coffee with friends, or going out for dinner with family and sometimes to go for a trip to mountains or beaches.
By these lines you must have started thinking that though we need computers and AI in our daily lives, the pure joy which a sunrise can give can not be obtained through machine learning or algorithms. Similarly, the travel and tourism industry requires human touch that probably no machines or algorithms can provide. This industry is solely based on empathy, interpersonal skills, and communication skill.
We can use chatbots and other technical assistance to advance the industry but it can not replace the human workforce. Some of the careers in the travel and tourism industry are hotel managers, restaurant managers and owners, chefs, bakers, housekeeping staff.
In recent times, there is a concern whether the advancement of Artificial Intelligence will eliminate the human workforce, with machines and algorithms replacing the human beings. Definitely, artificial intelligence has the capability to automate several tasks but it is not that easy to take the place of humans in many industries. Artificial intelligence is evolving day by day and it requires a lot of accuracy. As we have said, it requires a lot of time and effort to be accurate, that surely means AI is not that capable of creativity.
Humans are very much needed when it comes to content strategies, critical thinking, research and strategic thinking. Furthermore, some jobs require human touch which will be missing in the AI driven world. For example, healthcare is an industry where AI can not replace the human workforce, because it requires skills like empathy, interpersonal skills and the human touch, which can not be provided through AI and machines and algorithms.
We can conclude by saying that Artificial intelligence can surely be a blessing, as a lot of new industries will be created and some will get more advanced. The jobs in data science and machine learning are evolving these days and people are getting hired. However AI has the power to automate several tasks but it will not replace the human workforce.
