What is the Full Form of CISF?

The full form of CISF is the Central Industrial Security Force commonly known as CISF, was developed in 1969 under an act of Parliament. It is a police organization that provides safety to sensitive public sectors such as nuclear resource sectors, factories, space stations, industrial sectors, power plants, the Delhi Metro, steel plants, oil resources, fertilizer units, etc.

Sectors in CISF

The CISF is divided into seven sectors.

• Airport sector - Headquarters are in New Delhi.

• Northern sector - Headquarters are in New Delhi.

• North-eastern sector - Headquarters are in Kolkata.

• Eastern sector - Headquarters are in Patna.

• Western sector - Headquarters are in Mumbai.

• Southern sector - Headquarters are in Chennai.

They are further divided into Nine zones.

• Director General

The Director General heads the CISF.

Commands the airport sector.

• Inspector General

The other six sectors, apart from the airport sector, are headed by the Inspector General.

Commands units at major international airports and heads the fire service training sector.

Women In CISF

Years ago, the recruitment and posting of personnel to the CISF became restrained to men. In the year 1992, Mrs. Asha Sinha earned the distinction of being the first woman Commandant of a significant Armed Police Force in India. She became a Commandant at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders constrained. Earlier, the function of ladies was allowed but restricted to supervisory roles inside the principal Armed Police Forces, which incorporates the CISF.
