About Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts, Jabalpur

Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts, Jabalpur was established in 2005, it’s the leading fine arts institute in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This is a mixed School occupies a rather small area of about 0.5 acre and holds the vision of fostering talents in the field of art and culture. Being an affiliated college it provides different programs in Fine Arts and design. Currently, the institute has 10 students and 4 faculty members which enable the institute to offer a one on one ratio in teaching. 6 courses are offered at the institute at three degree levels, focusing on areas such as fine arts, textile design, fashion design and interior design.

For a more streamlined and academic oriented learning process the institute also possesses a variety of facilities. It plays a vital role in providing necessary sources for both practical work and valuable information concerning the field of art. Departmental laboratories give the students a rich practical experience, using the material and techniques demonstrated in art classes. 

The college also understands the need for balance in the education given and as such has facilities for sporting well being also. To meet the increased level of professionalism expected in the contemporary society, the institute boasts of a well enhanced IT department, preparing students to use digital tools in their artistic work. It is a typical event place where seminars, exhibitions, conferences etc are convened and as such plays a role in enhancing culture in our society. The cafeteria is provided for the relaxation of students and have relaxed environment to associate with others while the alumni association is well formed and students can easily get connected with industries.

Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts provides six full time courses to address differing levels of arts education. These range from undergraduate degrees, post graduate degrees to diploma courses. The BFA is an intensive undergraduate program, which lasts four years, and the MFA is a postgraduate program which takes two years to complete. 

The institute offers one-year diploma programs in Fashion Designing and Textile Designing, two-year diploma programs in Interior Designing and Art appreciation. As mentioned earlier total student intake is 10 but there is no provision to show seat for each and every course. Fulltime, face to face delivery of programs signifies the institute’s dedication in delivering compounding, skill development approach to art.

Admission is selective at Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts in order to ensure that each student has particular artistic potentialities. The institute is located in Napier Town, Jabalpur and it will benefit the new students from this region. Although information concerning the scholarships and some distinguished alumni is lacking, the institute seems to welcome talents in the artistic department.

The admission procedure of the institute is stringent so that each student has some particular skill in art. The approach to admissions at the Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts aims to discover potentials in various art and design areas. The courses are offered in three different way degree levels, namely, fine arts, textile design, fashion design, and interior design. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts may vary with the selected program. However, since the courses are rather specialized, the candidate should have a good inclination towards art and design along with fulfilling the relevant academic eligibility for his/her chosen program. 

Application Process

1. Check on the official Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts website for admissions details and to download the application form.

2. Fill up the application form with all relevant personal and academic details. Cautionary advice: enter all fields, which are marked as mandatory.

3. Prepare a Portfolio, which displays the utmost of the candidate's artistic skills and creativity for BFA, MFA, and all diploma programs.

4. Pay the application fee prescribed by the institute.

5. Submit the listed important documents:

  • 10 and 12 standard mark sheets
  • Graduation certificates and mark sheets (for candidates applying for post-graduation)
  • Identity and address proof
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Any other certificates of artistic achievements or workshops attended by the candidate.

6. Candidates, if shortlisted, may be called to take the entrance examination, personal interview, or both depending on the given program selected by the candidate.

7. Final selection may rely on many parameters such as to-be impressions regarding academic performance, portfolio evaluation, entrance test evaluation (if there was an entrance test), and interview.

8. After completion of the above-mentioned processes, admitted students will be informed and required to finish all related admission processes, such as fee payment and document verification, within the stipulated timeline.

Degree wise Admission Process

BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts): The BFA course at Aakriti Institute of Fine Arts is a full-time, intensive four-year undergraduate degree. Admission to this course will be based on the candidate's performance in the 10+2 examinations, practical tests, or portfolio consultation involving evaluation of artistic ability of the candidates.

MFA (Master of Fine Arts): The MFA is a two-year program targeting postgraduate students and offered by the institution. Candidates looking to candidates for the program should possess a relevant bachelor's degree. A combination of previous academic score assessment, portfolio assessment, and possibly interview ratings against advance studies in fine arts may constitute the selection process.

Diploma in Art Appreciation: This is offered for a two-year period from the institute. Admission for this program might involve such things as an evaluation based on the candidates' interest and basic knowledge of art history and appreciation.

Diploma in Textile Designing: This one-year diploma program is targeted exclusively toward textile design. For the admissions process, the candidates might be asked to reveal their creativity and interest in textile arts through presentation of a portfolio and/or entrance test.

Diploma in Fashion Designing: Another one-year diploma course, after fashion designing this will evaluate the candidate's design skills and fashion awareness.
