The Ajmal Law College at Hojai was established in 2018 and is an emerging college which aims at teaching law in Assam, India. This affiliated college is situated in the town of Hojai and has gained a reputation in the field of law in a relatively short time. Affiliated to University of Lucknow, the Ajmal Law College is a co-educational institution which is a great plus in today’s highly discriminating society. Situated in a 1.5 acres area, the college offers a small teaching environment suitable for learning for 127 enrolled students by 18 committed teachers. 

Ajmal Law College boasts of its up to date facilities which are dedicated to improve the education of the future legal professionals. Standing at the core of these facilities is the college library, which is referred to as a real treasure trove for legal learners. They argue that it plays an essential role of a library as a source of reading materials and as a research place for the students as well as members of the faculty. There is also an event and seminar hall in the college and there is active academic life in the college. The Ajmal Law College recommends Moot Court facility for practical training which is fully equipped facility to train students as an advocate. Ajmal Law College currently offers two comprehensive law programmes: Two programme with three-year LLB course and five-year integrated BA. The course offer here is particularly the BA LLB which has an approved strength of 60 students and considering the college’s policy of offering quality education popularising large classes might not be a great idea. As a result, both programmes are full-time, hence students can be assured of through legal training. Though the college is yet to expand its growth to become a full-fledged campus, it has already set up 2 degree programmes which show that it goes for the specialisation of legal education by offering multiple choices.

When it comes to admitting students to Ajmal Law College, the management’s idea is quite easy to implement for the candidates who wish to become the law student. When it comes to exams and admission the college does not give specific dates for examinations for each semester or time line of admissions although the college probably follows an academic calendar in India like most of the law schools. At present, Ajmal Law College has been trying to establish itself in the legal education fraternity of Assam. Since more emphasis is placed on delivering quality education and effective training and administrative centers, the college can train competent legal workers. It is a relatively young university and is currently in the process of consistent growth and development thus adding new programmes relevant to the changing face of the legal profession industry.
