Akal College of Physical Education, Sangrur (ACPE) is recognized institute fully concentrating on physical education & sports Science. This affiliated college is amongst the newcomers but was established in the year 2006, situated in Sangrur, Punjab. Numbers of colleges offer this course due to its importance, ACPE is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Populated over a spacious 25-acre area, the college has a total student enrolment capacity of 528 and a faculty of 24. ACPE gives 5 courses under 4 degree programmes, from the related to physical educations and yogic sciences. The college aims at providing excellence in the various programmes it offers together with the modern equipment it has as its infrastructure.

ACPE offers students a wide spectrum of amenities made available to provide the best experience during learning. Several technologies are used in the learning institution and a distinct campus has Wi-Fi for internet and other technological resources. A good library should be equipped with adequate number of books to meet the needs of the students and the members of faculty .Akal College of Physical Education accommodations departments which facilitates practical education and research. ACPE offers a broad range of academic programmes and in total, 5 full-time courses involving different levels of physical education. There is Undergraduate or Bachelor programmes, Postgraduate or Master programmes, Diplomas, and Post Graduate Diplomas. The college maintains a total approved intake of students at 270 in all the courses it offers. The B.P.Ed programme has total 50 seats and the B.P.E programme has the highest total seats of 100. The Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed) course and the Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed) course have an intakes of 50 and 40 respectively. Also, ACPE provides a special education Post Graduate Diploma in Human Consciousness and Yogic Science, there are 30 seats are available.

Admission process of Akal College of Physical Education is meant for the selection of deserving candidates for its programmes. In the case of the B.P.Ed programme, students are only offered a place according to their performance in an entrance test. The elements of assessment are written exam, physical fitness test, interview, as well as per cent obtained in the qualifying exam. This may however be subjected to the policies of the state government or the affiliating university. Similarly for the M.P.Ed programme there is merit through the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and or through an entrance test. The college may also use other hiring procedures in accordance with the policies of the state government U.T. Administration and College in regard to state university.
