The Master in Management Studies (Heritage Management) Programme is a new two years degree programme of its kind in India. It emphasizes on critical understanding of heritage, and holistic management approach to heritage sector. The areas of exploration within the curriculum include diverse range of heritage sectors spanning tangible and intangible, cultural and natural, historic and contemporary/living, and so on, but with a strong emphasis on holistic approach to heritage management. The programme is about processes of understanding and working in heritage sector, and NOT about learning specific heritage as such. 

The programme can be pursued by people aspiring to serve various sectors of heritage management in India and abroad, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in arts, architecture, archaeology, business, commerce, culture, history, museum studies etc. The course demands demonstrated experience or inclination to undertake a profession in heritage management.


Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent from a recognised university in India or abroad.

A candidate who is yet to appear for the final year examination of the bachelor's degree or equivalent is eligible to apply. However, for such candidates (if selected), the final year/semester examination should have been completed by July 15, 2024, and the result of that examination must be declared by September 31, 2024, following which they must submit a photocopy of their mark sheet and degree certificate.

Admission Details

Admissions Test

Shortlisted candidates must pass the online admissions test. The aim of the test is to understand the candidate’s passion for heritage irrespective of their prior education/work experience.

The test has two sections:

  • Section 1 - 'Understanding of Heritage Sector'   
  • Section 2 - 'Experience Related to Heritage Sector' – candidates may share relevant information from their academic and professional experience, and upload supporting documents. While this is not mandatory for all, it will support the application if applicable.

Interview    

  • Following the written test, selected candidates will be invited for a personal interaction.   
  • An admissions offer will be made based on the statement of purpose, written test and personal interaction.
