Assefa College of Education, Madurai, came in to existence in the year 2009 to deliver teacher education and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Chennai. Located in Silarpatti Peraiyur taluk madurai distric, this institutions occupies a land area 12.25 acres of land. The college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for the course work of the college in training teachers. As a growing institution, Assefa College of Education has 59 students and a faculty of 8 young and dedicated talented individuals.

Assefa College of Education has designed different facilities that can allow students to achieve their learning goals and develop. It is equipped with a stock of five thousand books—encyclopedias and dictionaries and books on select subjects of study—and a reading hall with journals and newspapers. A number of laboratories are available exclusively for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology departments. Also, there is the computer facility with 10 nodes system, language lab containing individual cabines and education technology lab with A/V equipped projectors and various related equipment. Regarding physical health, some of the amenities that students find in the campus include play ground, which can host volleyball, badminton or tennis, gym. The institution has hostel facilities for the male and female students for those who live in remote areas and may find it hard to afford decent accommodation.

Assefa College of Education is dedicated only on B.Ed programme which is a course run for two years on full time basis. It has been approved that this college should take 100 students for this programme, for the aspiring teachers. Such specialised approach allows the institution to channel its resources and skills in training quality educators.
