AVS College of Education for Women, Tarikere was started in the year of 2005, is one of the well-known teacher training college in Chikmagalur District of Karnataka. This co-educational institute which is located on a campus of 7 acres is the future of educators. Recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) the AVS College of Education is an affiliated college which offers only one course in education. With a total student enrolment 100 reconfigured with a faculty strength of 16 the college has kept expectations of a small and closed niche for learning where more attention is paid to each student thereby supporting his / her progress.

AVS College of Education for Women has a number of amenities that seek to a make positive impact in the learning process as well as the growth of the learners. A qualified teacher is knowledgeable in their subject matter; the library ensures the stock of knowledge needed to produce quality teachers is available. There is a separate hall for seminars, conferences, and any other event that is needed for the effective carrying out of activities on the campus. As for the outside physical health, there is the college with the playground and a gym, since over education is not beneficial. The IT infrastructure helps students remain informed of current trends in the adoption of technology in learning. Besides, departmental offices, necessary to academicians and postgraduate learners, are located in the college which also boasts of holding departmental laboratories for practical purposes. 

Established in 2001, AVS College of Education is presently conducting only one course, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program. This two-year full time course is approved for an intake of one hundred students and like other courses in this college the institute strives to uphold quality education when addressing the growing need for teachers. The program of B.Ed is aimed at providing adequate knowledge in combination with skills and practical experience to the candidates and prepare them for an efficient career in the respective filed of teaching.

Admission in AVS College of Education is offered strictly on merit basis as decided under the rules and regulation of state government, Union Territory administration and the university to which the college is affiliated. The following criteria are used when selecting potential students: performance on the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination.
