Biju Patnaik Institute of Technology (BPIT) was established in 2006, and it is an individual institute situated at Phulbani, Kandhamal district of Odisha. This AICTE approved institution aim imparting quality technical education in various branch of engineering. Covering a total area of 4 acres, BPIT is a great place for learning and training. The total student uptake being 302 and the faculty was 49 which helps the institute to focus on each and every student in the institute and guiding them properly. At present, BPIT has only five diploma programs that it provides with focus on the skills and knowledge that students need for the modern world being shaped by advancing technology.
A list of learning facilities that the institute provides to support the learning atmosphere is provided below. It is well endowed with adequate laboratory facilities, an efficient library facility and modern Information Technology unit. In this regard, the boys and girls who seek accommodation are offered different hostels by the BPIT. The current girls’ hostel is within the campus and can house one hundred and twenty students, the hostel has a superintendent.
For the students’ health protection, there is an opportunity to visit sport complex and a gym in the institute. With respect to institutional facilities canteen is provided to meet the challenge for food commodities of students and staff and health care through a health center with adequate first aid section. For the purpose of academics and co curricular activities BPIT has an auditorium it conducts all programs including seminars. The institute also owns and operates some transport facilities in and around Phulbani town as this explains the transportation cost of day scholars.
BPIT provides a total of five full time diploma courses in engineering out of which every course takes three years duration. These programmes include civil, computer science, electrical, electronics & telecommunication and mechanical engineering disciplines.

The admission policy of BPIT is very simple and follows the merit criterion for all its classes. Regular students desirous of upgrading themselves to aspiring students must write the Diploma Entrance Test (DET) conducted by Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTE&T), Government of Odisha once in a year. This entrance examination is used for the admission of all Diploma Engineering Programmes of the BPIT.
