One such very prominent constituent college based in Kandi, West Bengal, was set up in the year 2002: Bimal Chandra College of Law, Murshidabad. This institution of great pride is approved by the Bar Council of India and is exclusively concerned with legal education, occupying an area of 1.33 acres. The institute has a total student enrolment of 536, while the faculty is represented by 7 members. The undergraduate programme conducted at the college is BA LLB (Hons.), and it is a complete five-year study programme on full-time basis.

The college provides a lot of facilities for the support of students in their study programme. However, the most important facility is the well-stocked and professionally run college library, with the assistance of a librarian and other support staff. It maintains a full stock of textbooks, reference books, journals, and legal reports from 1950 onward. Moreover, the institution subscribes to many legal reporters, periodicals, magazines, and daily newspapers to meet all the requirements of the students to be abreast in their studies. The practical outlook in learning is reflected in the institution's moot court facility, where students can practice their advocacy skills in a simulated courtroom. At present, Bimal Chandra College of Law, Murshidabad, offers one flagship course: the BA LLB (Hons) course. This is an integrated five-year full-time course with an approved intake of 120 seats, which shows that the college is committed to a favourable student-to-faculty ratio. The two courses have been designed so as to give to the students an all-round coverage of legal principles with a fusion of liberal arts so that they can pursue the profession of law as successful practitioners.
