CAIMS or Chalmeda Ananda Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, approved by the Medical Council of India, stand as one of the leading medical college in Karimnagar, Telangana state and was established in the year of 2003. The courses offered in this affiliated college are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and available at the undergraduate and postgraduate degree levels. CAIMS occupies an area of 35 acres, has a total enrolment of 1125 learners and operates under the supervision of 141 faculty employees. A part of this institute offers 23 courses in 5 degree programmes and offers specialisation in different medical fields.
CAIMS has a number of amenities which can accommodate its academic programmes; it has all modern facilities. The campus includes well furnished classes complete with modern day teaching aids so as to provide the best learning atmosphere for the students. The college library is an important knowledge centre that is stocked with huge amount medical literature and online resources. The modern laboratory facilities for each medical department put students through actual practical experiences of their field of discipline. Also, the institute contains facilities such as an auditorium that can be used to host various academic ceremonies, seminar, cultural activities among others making the overall learning circuit complete.
CAIMS institute provides a wide range of medical programmes which includes 1 undergraduate MBBS course and 22 postgraduate programmes. The MBBS programme alone has regulatory permission of 200 seats. in addition, postgraduate courses include MD Anaesthesiology, MD General Medicine, MS General Surgery, MD Radiodiagnosis etc. All courses are full time, MBBS is 6 years duration programme while Post graduate programmes are of 3 year duration. The total student enrolment is 1125 which reflects the institute’s great role in providing education in the medical field.
At CAIMS, the admission process is mainly run and controlled by the national level entrance tests. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) is the entrance test for joining the MBBS programme. NEET PG cut off list is used for admissions in postgraduate and NEET SS score for super specialty courses. The institute is open to students from within and outside the state; most of the postgraduate students are non-local, at 55%, illustrating the institute’s national status.
CAIMS shows its concerns for students diversity by accepting students of different backgrounds. The institute has been established with a provision of co-education with nearly equal proportion of male and female students. Among postgraduate students, 61% of students are females, and 39% of student are males. The institute also hosts international students, but a minority thereof at only 2 % of the post graduate student population.

Chalmeda Ananda Rao Institute of Medical Sciences (CAIMS), Karimnagar, is a recognized medical institute offering undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs. Admission into the institute is based on an arduous selection procedure devoted to skillful and deserving candidates.
Every year, during May to June, CAIMS begins its admission activities for academic activities stretching from August to September. Admission is primarily rendered on the basis of national-level entrance examinations. The remaining process of selection is through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) for undergraduates. For postgraduate admission, the National Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) scores will be accepted, while the next level will consider NEET SS ranks.
For admission into the MBBS course, candidates must have completed a 10+2 qualification that incorporates Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects. Generally, candidates have to obtain a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination. Candidates aspiring for postgraduate programs should have a degree in MBBS from a recognized university.
Application Process
The application can be done through CAIMS depending upon the different programs:
For MBBS:
1. Register and appear for NEET UG examination.
2. Qualify NEET UG with a rank within the cut-off for CAIMS.
3. Participate in the counseling process conducted by the state or central authorities.
4. If allotted a seat at CAIMS, report to the institute for document verification and admission formalities.
For MD/MS Programs:
1. Register and appear for NEET PG examination.
2. Qualify NEET PG with a rank within the cut-off for desired specialization at CAIMS.
3. Participate in the counseling process (state or central, as applicable).
4. If allotted a seat, complete the admission process at CAIMS.
For DM/M.Ch Programs:
1. Register and appear for the NEET SS examination.
2. Qualify NEET SS with a rank suitable for admission to CAIMS.
3. Participate in the counseling process for super-specialty courses.
4. If selected, complete the admission formalities at CAIMS.
Degree-wise Admission Process
MBBS: CAIMS accepts 200 students into the MBBS course. Admission is based only on NEET UG ranks. Its duration is 5.5 years, including one year of compulsory rotating internship.
MD/MS Courses: There are also different postgraduate programs, such as MD Anaesthesiology, MD General Medicine, MS General Surgery, MD Radiodiagnosis, MD Paediatrics, MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology, etc. Admissions to these programs are based on NEET PG rankings. These programs run for about three years.
DM/M.Ch Programs: Among the super-specialty courses offered are DM Neurology and M.Ch Urology. Admissions to these super-specialty programs are based on NEET SS rankings. These programs normally last for three years.

Our college is well developed and has a good environment for learning, has a well-stocked library with an extensive collection of medical textbooks making it easier for students to access information.
Teaching and faculty in the college is good. College is just 3 kilometres away from the city.patient flow is moderate . Hostel facilities are excellent . Proper hygiene is maintained in college and hostel .
