Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) Diploma Wing, which was started in 1959, is one of the most renowned institutes you can find at Sector No. 26, CHD. This affiliated college, which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), introduces diploma courses in various engineering fields. Located on a 28-acre plot, the CCET Diploma Wing has a total intake capacity of 1027 students, with the faculty members of 23. Currently, the institute offers six full-time diploma courses, each having a duration of three years, in different engineering branches and thus promotes a diverse atmosphere. Even the Diploma Wing of CCET is keen on offering students total educational facilities, with the aim of complementing a numerous array of facilities with accommodation and personality development.
The campus also consists of hostel facilities for male and female students so that students who are from other regions can feel at home. The knowledge centre is a modern, equipped library with highly developed practical facilities, such as modified laboratories for the intending engineers. It also has an auditorium for functions and seminars, which has helped to create an active campus life. CCET has provisions of a gym and a health centre for medical emergencies and voluntary first aid services. His application form also revealed that the campus cafeteria provides different types of foods in a relaxed environment. Students interested in sports and games can make use of huge sports complexes and can represent colleges in the sports competitions.
The institute has in total six diploma programmes, all of which are full-time qualifications. Others are Diplomas in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Production & Industrial Engineering, Electronics & Comm Engineering, and Computer Science & Engineering. The total number of students that can be approved for these courses is 337 per annum, and out of this, mechanical engineering takes the highest number of 90, while electrical engineering takes 79. The rest of the courses have intakes from 33 to 69 for each course and therefore offer students diverse chances of getting their preferred engineering fields.
The intakes in CCET Diploma Wing are strictly online counselling although the admissions are opened on the merit of Joint Entrance Test (JET) of Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training (PSBTE&IT). This makes sure that admission stands as fair to all parties because the standards are well set. JET exam, and subsequently the counselling sessions must be closely monitored by the potential candidates as the PSBTE&IT releases the important dates on its website.
Getting AICTE approval underlines the institute’s concern for quality education as the programs offered meet national standard in Technical Education. Unfortunately there is no particular scholarship information provided, however, the students are advised to look for a number of scholarship schemes relating to their studies at the CCET Diploma Wing from different government and private organisations.
