Chellammal Women's College, Chennai: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Chellammal Women’s College was started in the year 1971 and is a recognised women’s college in Chennai Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college occupying 9.25 acres of land, has been accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The college has a total enrolment of 3,037 students and employs 93 faculty members; the college teaches 17 courses in 8 programmes. 

Chellammal Women’s College has most of the facilities to improve the learning environment. A modern gym facility is provided on the campus, as a facility of the physical education department to encourage systematic exercise among staff and students. The semi computerised library which receives approximately one hundred students daily and discharges approximately four hundred books each year to teachers and students. People involved in sporting activities can participate in sports holidays and such activities as cricket, football, hockey, basketball and Athletics. This IT structure helps students to gain access to N-list journals purchased by the college and there are internet facilities within the library. There are two large canteens with many seating places for students and any other person and a large auditorium that can hold up to 1200 people. Like other facility providing institution, the college has five laboratories in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and computer science as a way of practicing what has been taught in class.

The College presently offers varied programmes of studies, namely, 11 undergraduate programmes, 4 postgraduate programmes, 1 M.Phil. programme and 1 Ph.D. programme. The institute offers both day and evening classes and lays emphasis on regular courses most of which are day courses as part time. The college was also very productive in the most recent academic year graduating many students which has always placed the college as an academic institution.

Initially, the admission to Chellammal Women’s College will however follow the standard admission rules and regulation of the University of Madras. Intending students should also realise that the admission is conditional, provided the university standards are met. Admission to this college is offered for different courses at different times within the academic calendar year.
