The College of Agricultural Engineering, Raichur (CAER) is a great University that was started in 1987. Shri Jagadguru Joshi Shastra Mahavidyapeeth, Raichur, Karnataka, India is a constituent college of the University of Agricultural Sciences. ICAR approved CAER to offer quality education in agricultural engineering discipline. The college has a faculty consisting 29 members and provides 8 course across 4 degree levels. This includes Agricultural Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering and Processing and Food Engineering. The author establishes that CAER is responsive to the theme of agricultural education by surveying its courses and research emphasis.

This college has several facility that can supplement the learning of the students in their chosen courses. There are good stocks of teaching aids like textbooks, reference books, journals etc., to facilitate the academic programmes. Single sex hostels with clean, properly ventilated rooms with neat and properly arranged mess facilities for boys and girls. There is intelligent computerized network connectivity with internet for up to date information in matters concerning agriculture by the students. The medical needs of students are addressed at a health centre; banking facilities include an SBI bank with branch and an ATM on the campus. The college also has a canteen, consumer store to balance the needs of a student, in addition to the multi-gym and other sports facilities. Modern laboratory that can enhance practical sessions in different field of agricultural engineering is available at the institute.

CAER has the following courses in agricultural engineering; The institute offers 8 full time programmes at various level of B.Tech, M.Tech, Diploma and Ph. D. This eclectic program targets students with different learning needs at different levels of education including underclass, postgraduate, masters, and even doctoral students.

CAER has certain admission measures which are designed to choose talented and interested students for its different courses. The B.Tech program generally intake learners who have qualified either through their performance on state or national level admission tests. For postgraduate and doctoral programs, the college probably takes into consideration the candidates previous performance and may set further tests or interviews.
