The College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Pusa was established in the year 1981 as the first constituent college of Samastipur, Bihar. This is a co-educational institution that boasts a sprawling 3-acre campus with the purpose of imparting quality education in biotechnology, microbiology, and statistics. The total enrolment of students in the college is 260, while it has a faculty strength of 27, thereby ensuring a personalised learning environment.

The facilities are rather extensive, more oriented toward supplementing the quality of learning and development of the overall personality of the students. The library acts as a knowledge center with huge stock available in books, journals, and e-resources. A well-maintained health centre with first-aid facilities adds to the healthy atmosphere of staff and students. The College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Pusa offers five full-time courses at three degree levels. These include one B. Tech program, three M.Sc programs, and one Ph.D program.
