The College of Forestry, Sirsi, was established in 1997, affiliated to the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. Sedballed in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, this is one of the premier institution in the country in the field of forestry education and research. The college provides various programes on the undergraduate, post graduate & doctorate level in field of agriculture sciences only in those courses which are approved by I.C.A.R of India only. The college occupies a total area of 36 .25 acres and offers a good learning environment for forestry sciences. This institution of learning has a total student population of 286 students and a staff compliance of 16 qualified and experienced staffs. College currently delivers 8 courses and these offered at 3 levels of degree with emphasis on numerous sub - specialisations in forestry.

The College of Forestry, Sirsi is focused to create and deliver the best facilities which would make a positive impact on academic and co-curricular activities of the students. The campus includes well-furnished teaching halls, adequately equipped laboratories and a rich collection of textbooks, journals, periodicals and other reference materials in the college library with special reference to forestry and allied sciences. Students are able to enjoy well outfitted computer labs with internet connection as the modern study and research require. It also has an adequate facility for a college, namely an auditorium complete with sounds and visual facilities for seminars, workshops, and other learning events.

The institution provide comprehensive information on courses that can be taken according to the various aspects of forestry. At the undergraduate level, the flagship programme is B.Sc Forestry (Hons) which creates a strong base of the student about forestry sciences. they have master’s degree in postgraduate programmes like M.Sc in Forest Biology and Tree Improvement, MNR, Silviculture and Agroforestry, and FPU. To help those intent on doing more specialised work, the college provides doctoral degree programmes in Forest Biology and Tree Improvement, Natural Resource Management, and Silviculture and Agroforestry. All programmes are of full time and enable students devote their undivided attention to the subject of interest.

The CFS Sirsi admission process is therefore developed in a manner that evaluates and selects the most deserving candidates with appropriate hopes of nurturing the especial forestry profession.
