College of Nursing, Armed Force Medical College, Pune, was established in 1964 as a premier institution to carry out education in nursing. Situated in Wanowarie, Pune, the different part of this educational institution is a women’s college which is affiliated by INC. The college situated on a 2.5 acre campus nourishes a total of 224 student nursing with different faculty programmes and is staffed by 31 highly experienced faculty members. It offers 11 courses at diploma and degree level and covers different aspects of care nursing and community health.
In College of Nursing, AFMC, students have numerous facilities to rear their advantages in learning atmosphere. The institution is privileged to have a functional college library with over 3,375 books, 47 reference books and-over 1,000 both national and international journal subscriptions. In order to facilitate practical learning, the institutional has well equipped Nursing arts lab with simulation mannequins and equipment. Another feature of students’ learning in the school can exploit a first-rate computer laboratory with facilities for information technology practicals. The college provides the sporting industry, a gymnasium, and an auditorium for activity besides learning. It has health centre plus first aid facilities, it meets student health needs while the canteen takes care of their feeding needs. The College of Nursing, AFMC provides a vast educational curriculum of nursing for students with different requirements.
The institution offers eleven full time programmes among them being undergraduates and post graduate programmes. The undergraduate programmes include four years B.Sc Nursing course with 50 seats, and two years Post Basic B.Sc Nursing course, with twenty seats. For advanced specialisation, the college offers four M.Sc Nursing programmes, each spanning two years. There are specialties in Medical Surgical Nursing (6 seats), Paediatric Nursing (4 seats), Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing (4 seats), and Community Health Nursing (4 seats). Altogether the college has an intake capacity of 88 students to all of its programmes to build nursing professionals for the health care.
