Colonel College of Physical Education, Sangrur, is an institution exclusively for physical education and sports sciences which was founded in 2019. This is a new college situated in chural kalan in Sangrur district in punjab which has grown rapidly to become one of the most recognised colleges in this discipline. These three full-time courses are taught across two degree programmes of the college and it are approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college is located at a 5-acre area; it has a total of 110 students and faculty with 10. The institute provides a focused learning environment with a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1 in order to provide adequateone-on-one concern and quality work in the development of physical education.

Some of the modern facility that the college has are well equipped to promote learning and development of skills for total person in physical education. The classrooms are fitted with effective audio visual equipment namely overhead projectors, slide projectors and television sets, making the classes interactive. It is mini-briefed as a resource centre, holding a large number of books, national and international journals, CDs and VHS tapes to meet the multi-faceted learning needs of the students and the faculty. Apart from standard classrooms, the college boasts of sophisticated labs such as the psycho lab, science lab, and computer lab that help students integrate what they learn in class with what is practiced in real life. Thus, for those who are interested in being athletes and sports lovers, especially for the college, there are quality performance physical training equipments for playing different games like cricket, foot ball, badminton and soft ball. There also exists an important campus facility for hearing and physical fitness for the students in form of a modern gym.

Colonel College of Physical Education, Sangrur, currently offers three full-time courses: Programmes in Physical Education include the Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.), Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.), and Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (B.P.E.S.). The course of B.P.Ed. has the maximum capacity of admission of one hundred students, while the course of B.P.E.S. has the second highest capacity of admission of fifty students, and the course of M.P.Ed. has the third highest admission power of forty students. All these programmes are aimed at producing students with a sound background in physical education, sport sciences and allied disciplines. The total intake capacity of the college has been kept limited to 190 for all courses The college has been maintaining its quality in education along with its gradual expansion in the field of physical education course.

Thus, admission procedure also at Colonel College of Physical Education, Sangrur, is generally known and fair based on merit. However, in the case of the B.P.Ed. and even M.P.Ed. programmes, admissions are given an entrance examination. This examination normally involves a written examination, physical fitness test and an interview. Furthermore, the percentage scored in the qualifying examination is not ignored while arriving at the cutoff marks to enrol in the course. The admission norms in the college are governed by the state government and the university to which the college is affiliated; it doesn’t compromise any bias in the selection of the students.
