Deben Mahato Teachers Training Institute situated at Purulia of West Bengal is one of the renowned institutions prospective teacher training. Set up in 2008 to respond to the societal need for qualified educators, this institute has been producing future educators for over ten years. With a total area of about 2 acres the institute for teacher education is confined as far as place is concerned however the Institute imparts focused education to those interested in becoming teachers. Currently the institute has a total of 179 students and 21 faculty members who ensure a good student teacher ratio that leads to efficient teacher student interaction thus offering quality education.

To facilitate easy learning of its students, the institute has put in place a number of amenities they consider essential to ensure that students gain the desired knowledge and expertise needed in the task. The library being one for academic institution collects 3700 general books 5124 reference books and two encyclopedia. It has 50 sitting capacity and allows students and researchers to have a comfortable learning atmosphere. The Psychology Laboratory provides students with an opportunity to work with standardised intelligence tests, aptitude, and personality inventories, thus providing them with real-life experience in application of the psychological constructs that may be useful to them in their future professions as educators. It also emphasise in using technolgy with good IT facilities which makes the students ready for the modern world of technology .

Deben Mahato Teachers Training Institute currently offers only one main course that is the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme. This is a full-time course which takes two years and has an approved annual capacity of 100 students, thus the institute’s determination to provide quality training to meeting the need for qualified tutors. School of Education B.Ed programme aims to produce competent professional Teacher with sound pedagogical skills, theoretical framework and classroom experience.

Admission to Deben Mahato Teachers Training Institute is open based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. It has also adopted the admission policies of the state government and the university to which it is affiliated. This makes the progress to be achieve more genuine and deserving so that the teachers can be able to get the capable students in teaching profession.
