The Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Jammu was started in 2005 with the foundation of the Department of Management Studies is an remarkable constituent college imparting management education. The department has four different degrees in business focused programmes at undergraduate, post graduate and even doctoral level. To enhance Management education, the Department of Management Studies offers a combination of four full time courses as per the requirements of present day management education. These are B.B.A, M.B.A., M.Phil. In Management Studies and Ph.D. in Management Studies. The BBA programme has a strength of 30 and the MBA programme has 54 seats. 

Application procedures at the Department of Management Studies depends on the programme in question. For MBA programme, the candidate must has appeared in the national level entrance test which includes Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), Common Admission Test (CAT) and Management Aptitude Test (MAT). The department also recognises A.M.I.E. (Engineering) degree for MBA admissions also.
