The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, came into being in 2011 as a constituent college to focus on pharmaceutical education and research. Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was well established in the Punjab region at Bathinda it offers all kind of programmes in the field of pharmaceuticals. established in the year 2000 & approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) This co-educational institute has a teaching staff of 7 members. The department offers 7 courses across 4 degree levels including Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Chemical Science.
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products provides facilities to facilitate learning in the department by the students who enrol in different classes that the department provides. As a citadel of academic materials the library boasts of 4455149 titles and 45 international and national print journal subscriptions. It also includes a number of electronic journals and databases helpful in research and learning processes. The department has functional and modern laboratories that are used for practical exercise and research. Main student amenities include a Health Centre with a Medical Officer in charge of minor illnesses and injuries treatment and emergencies. Sports freaks will find features such as a volleyball ground, hockey field, football, and athletic fields besides assorted indoor sports games. It also has a health physical fitness centre which accommodates quality athletic workout stations for student and staff to ensure they have sound health.
This department has a complete offering of 7 courses which includes full time undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. The academic programmes include 1 Undergraduate (B.Pharma), 5 Postgraduate (M.Pharma and M.Sc in Chemical Science etc.) and 2 Doctoral (Ph.D. ). The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme (B.Pharma) has an overall authorised admission limit of 60 students, and postgraduate programmes of 70 students in aggregate. The educational focus of the department remains on the acquisition of the profound theoretical knowledge and the development of important practical skills, which can make students successful laureates of their future careers in pharmaceutical industries or further postgraduate studies in our department.
Admission for the degree programme leading to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products is mostly through examination. For postgraduate programmes, colleges offer admission based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) merit.
