Amarkantak, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University having a constituent college Department of Pharmacy, was established in the year 2017. Established in Lalapur, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, this institution endeavoured to become one of the most successful pharmacy institutions. The department is Recognised by AICTE and PCI that has marked the standard of the college so that it can deliver the quality education to the students. To improve connectivity to the campus WiFi and 2000 LAN nodes connectivity expansion is in process. It also includes several speciality laboratories in which students can participate in many different aspects of pharmaceutical sciences. In order to promote the welfare of its learners the campus includes an eatery, transport services and separate hostels for boys and girls respectively. Medical needs are met through the presence of a health centre on the compound with first aid necessities while the cash requirements are met by NEVAH through ATM machines placed within the compound.
The Department of Pharmacy teaches two broad courses in pharmacy area of specialisation. These are a four year course Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) and a two year course Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma). They both are full time, campus based programmes which aim to prepare the students in pharmaceutical sciences. In detail, the following programme has a capacity as approved; B.Pharma 100 students, D.Pharma 60 students. This makes the total student that the department has admitted for the current years to be two hundred and sixty for both programmes to ensure that the institution offer quality education by restricting the number of students per class.
