The DoT SPPU is one of the colleges affiliated to the well-known Savitribai Phule Pune University known as Pune university The Institute was established of the later part of twentieth century as an aggregate of new branches of higher education in the context of world development. Situated in the main province of Maharashtra, particularly in Pune, this institute expands the wide range of technical and professional programs. All the departments of UIET are formally recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE which lays emphasis on quality education and curriculum relevant to the industry world. Located across a total area of 411 acres, DoT SPPU is purpose-built and has a suitable learning environment. The institute has a total of 5 members on the faculty rolled out 21 courses under 5 degree programs with specializations in emerging areas such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Electric Mobility. 

This makes the Department of Technology determined to deliver quality technology facilities to their students. The institute has a library with more than 2000 titles including fundamental engineering, life science and clinical research. Students also have the opportunity to use other library of the university and it is the university’s main Jayakar Library. The laboratories situated in the department are intended to allow practical experience in different technical fields. The IT equipment is well developed; there are several computers with internet facilities and licensed softwares including Ms,Word, Excel,Power POINT, Matlab,CATIA and Ansys. For purposes of improving learning every classroom is equipped with multimedia systems and LCD projectors. 

DoT SPPU has a wide list of programs for both the undergraduate and the postgraduate students. The institute offers 7 M.Tech programs and 5 integrated M.Tech/Ph.D programs, 7 P.G. Diploma courses, 1 B.Sc and 1 B.Tech program as well. The total student intake differs from course to course; the majority of the M.Tech programmes take 14 students each, while the PGD courses range from 30, 000 to 60, 000. Among such programs, the most popular with the capacity of 60 students are the B.Sc. in Animation and VFX and PGD in Electric Mobility. It also provides an interesting course of B.Tech in Aviation Technology with only 20 students intake. 

The principles of selection at the Department of Technology, SPPU are aimed at the admission of suitable candidates. Concerning M.Tech programs, the admission is given depending on the qualification of courses to the national level, entrance test, and counseling. The PGD courses are generally more flexible in their admission requirements, that is, the applicant’s past academic record and experience. ESP the B.Sc. in Animation and VFX and B.Tech in Aviation Technology that the university may offer might have different entrance examination or merit based.
