Devarajan College of Education, Nagapattinam was started in the year 2009 with the aim to produce quality educators of the future generation is a co-educational institution. Established in Vedaranyam as an affiliated college and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Teacher Education imparts quality teacher Education. The college is located in a 9-acre campus, which provide an environment that is appropriate for teaching and learning. The institution offers total student enrolment for 150 and faculty of 8, the scenario allows the institute to offer individual student attention making the learning environment unique.

Devarajan College of Education has equipped several amenities, which are intended to contribute to the improvement of educational process of the college for its students. It should contain standard text and reference by established authors as well as monthly and yearly journals and these make good collections for academic activities. For the sport lover it has spacious playgrounds with provisions of football ground basketball ground, volley ball ground, badminton hall and indoor games. The institution also values the use of technology and has an outstanding IT development. An auditorium is used for conducting events and seminars and well equipped laboratories are used fro highly technical and practical sessions. This college also has a health centre with first aid equipment in order to support the students’ health. To enable mechanical means of transport, buses are available for commuters from the Thiruthuraipoondi area.

Devarajan College of Education mainly has courses for teacher training and development; the college offers a B.Ed programme. The aforesaid course is a two-year full-time course, which has an approved strength of 50 students. The B.Ed programme aims of imparting the knowledge, skills, and other aspects of teaching proficiency that a candidate would require for reconstructing or reconstructing the classroom teaching strategy. 

In this regard, the admission policy of Devarajan College of Education function as per the norms set by the State Government, UT Administration and the affiliated University. Seats as for admission are merit based, that is, marks in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test.
