Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya of women’s college was established in 1975 in the town of Dhenkanal, Odisha and is affiliated to the Utkal University. As this school occupies 10 acre of land it has aims and objective in offering quality education to female students only. The college has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India, which shows that College has set higher standards for its academic achievements. The college has 701 students and 18 faculty members and it provides 13 courses of four kinds of degrees. Specializations include Arts and Science; the Odia language, Home Science, economics, and political science.

The college has also developed various amenities that can complement the learning process of students in the college. Facilities such as an automated library with computerized open stack on the first floor provides collection of reference books, journals, textbooks, previous years’ question papers etc. Members and students have access to the attached reading room with internet facilities for research to enhance their studying. Students also have found convenience in departmental laboratories a necessity for practice in the science classes. 

Such amenities as playing fields, gymnasium, and hall for assemblies and mess union are some of the extra curricular facilities provided on the campus. The availability of a health centre with first aid facilities ensures the health of students and an IT system which facilitates current methods of learning. The college also has a functional canteen through which students’ and staff diet is provided learners also has a guest house that hosts the teaching faculty and the students’ families as and when required.

This college of higher education consists of a wide category of programs, with the emphasis on the full-time under graduate programmes. The institution offers thirteen courses in which there are B.A, B.Sc and some honours courses in English, Economics, Education, Home Science, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Odia and Physics and Maths and Chemistry.
