Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College Puducherry was started in the year 1972 is one of the pioneer institutions for legal education. The affiliated college is situated in Kalapet, Puducherry and the college has a 28-acre campus. This college is NAAC accredited and BCI approved to offer these law programmes in Bangladesh. The institution’s student enrolment is 528 and the faculty size is 11.Presently the institution offers 6 courses in 5 degree programmes. Programmes offered here are LLB, BA LLB, LLM, Postgraduate diploma in French Law, PhD in law, to fulfill various career goals in the legal field.

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College is well endowed with state of the art technological equipment and facilities that by all standards provide for an enabling environment for learning. A well stocked library function as an information centre which also offer access to a host of legal materials. They have moot court and through this students are exposed to real life courtroom practice way of boosting their advocacy skills. In the extra co- curriculum activities sporting facilities exist and therefore reasoning for increased formation of.Players gain physical fitness as well as team spirit. Distinct to the institution is the PGD in French Law for students who have interest on the legal system in France or any civil law country. 

The admission procedure of Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College also has been framed in a way that it helps to choose the best talent in legal field. The college follows the standards of CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test Under Graduate) for all its undergraduate programmes such as LLB and BA LLB. This gives a level playing ground in the competition process. The test is conducted by the Pondicherry University for the admissions to the Ph.D., both full time and part time.
