Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech and Hearing was started in the year 1991 at Mangalore, Karnataka. This affiliated college offers two specific degree programmes in the area of speech and hearing sciences. The college occupies a small area of 0.47 acres and currently enrols 203 students in its gates; it has a staffing cap of 20 highly professional faculty members. Due to its concentration in speech and hearing sciences, the institute presents a niche learning institution for the students who have interest in this sub-sector of health and human development.

Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech and Hearing has a rich resource of enhanced learning facilities that would improve the colleges student’s learning capabilities. Each has separate hostels for boys and girls so as to ensure that the students feel safe while in the campus. It has close to 14000 books, and about 40 national and international journals, in addition to an array of theses. Students are privileged to access quality facilities in form of laboratories that enhance the practical session especially in the areas of speech and hearing sciences. Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech and Hearing imparts two regular programmes as follows: The Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) is an undergraduate programme offered over four years with an intake capacity of fourty-four (44) students. For postgraduate, the college offers a two year Master of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology  course with a total intake of 15. They are intended as preparation for employment opportunities for graduates in the field of speech and hearing sciences. 

The admission process of Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Speech and Hearing can be said to be competitive, and is meant at filtering the most deserving candidates likely to benefit from the College’s specialised programmes. The admission of students to the MASLP programme usually starts mid-year probably in June of each calendar year. The marks in the candidate’s bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology or B.Sc. Speech Language and Hearing are considered for selection provided that the candidate fulfills the eligibility norms.
