English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Lucknow, was set up in 1979. It also have distance education courses and is affiliated with the English And Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. The EFLU Lucknow is a specialised university in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences for learning English and Foreign languages. It has a faculty which consist of 13 members and offers 8 courses in total with four course levels including undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral level. 

EFLU Lucknow has earned a reputation for teaching and researching languages, and students of all types are welcome. It has a modern IT infrastructure and has a modern computer lab containing LAN connected computers with internet connection. This is a Multimedia Digital Language Laboratory and in this lab; students are exposed to modern techniques in learning languages. 

EFLU Lucknow has a total of 8 programmes on offer, of which are the full time programmes at the Bachelors, Masters & Doctorate level. The courses being offered are 3 year Bachelor of Arts honours in English. Master’s degree programmes in the institute comprises of MA in English and Linguistics and a PG Diploma in Teaching of English. For the scholars or those, who would like to continue their education, EFLU Lucknow offers Ph.D. programmes in English, English Language Education and English Literature. 

Most of the admission of the students at EFLU Lucknow , is determined based on written examinations. For the undergraduate programmes, institute accepts Common University Entrance Test also known as CUET UG. It should also be noted that written examination is also mandatory when passing postgraduate and diploma programmes. The admission in Ph.D. programmes involves two successive screening: a written examination, which may be taken at different centres, and an interview to be conducted at the Lucknow campus. EFLU Lucknow has many scholarships for those students who excel academically as well as for those who deserve a chance. These are UGC NET Junior Research Fellowship, Senior Research Fellowship and specific scholarships for the SC/ST students and single girl children. The UGC Non-NET Fellowship is to support those Ph.D. students who could not get any other fellowship in India. In addition, SC/ST students avail preferences like no fee for any course and, a monthly amount as well.
