Garhbeta College, Paschim Medinipur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Since 1948, Garhbeta College at Paschim Medinipur, affiliated to the University of West Bengal, has been running several interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from its campus sprawling over 22.14 acres of land. Enrolled are 4,070 students with a teaching staff of 43 members. The institution ensures a friendly atmosphere for the students themselves. The college offers programmes in 24 courses under 11 degrees. It keeps on the entire commitment towards general quality education and teacher training programmes with approval from the National Council for Teacher Education.

In addition to these learning things, several institutes have rich facilities which increase the beauty of a student's life in their day-to-day as well as academics. It has a library which contains more than 40,000 books and bound volumes of journals with question paper collections, study material, and career guidance resources. Adequate arrangements for playing outdoor games like football, cricket, volleyball, and basketball are available in the well-maintained playground on the college campus. The college has also established hostels meant for boys and girls; each hostel has an intake capacity of 70 students. Others features are multi-gym, IT infrastructure, canteen, departmental laboratories, and a health centre with first-aid facilities.

Garhbeta College provides courses which are pretty detailed and diverse enough across disciplines. The college provides 24 full-time courses: B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.C.A., B.P.Ed, and M.A. in Bengali, History, Zoology, and Mathematics, among others. It provides the B.Voc course in Office Management and Secretarial Practice.

The marks obtained at the entrance test and qualifying examinations are taken for the Garhbeta College merit-based admission. The entrance tests generally comprise written tests, sports proficiency tests, and physical fitness tests. The college admission policies are according to the guidelines from the University/State Government/UT Administration. Almost a century ago, this institution pioneered higher education in Paschim Medinipur.
