Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology is a relatively new institution, established in the year 2018. This affiliated college at Krishnagar, West Bengal, has risen fast in the field of pharmaceutical education. The GCPT has AICTE and PCI approval and imparts quality education on its sprawling 4-acre campus. The student-teacher ratio is on a very excellent scale with a total enrolment of 57 students and 36 as the faculty strength. GCPT has at present two specialized courses in pharmacy at degree and diploma levels, which proves its focused approach to pharmaceutical education.
This college is fully facilitated with adequate infrastructure to provide an amicable atmosphere for learning to the students. The campus is fully equipped with well-furnished laboratories, equipped with modern instruments, necessary for hands-on training in pharmaceutical studies. A well-spaced library, named "Information Centre," consists of more than 2,000 books and subscribes to over 100 national and international pharmaceutical journals, including e-journals. Much emphasis is put on technology, which is reflected in a fully WiFi-enabled campus, smart classrooms equipped with audio-visual systems, etc. GCPT maintains separate hostels for boys and girls; the girls' hostel can accommodate about 50 students in well-furnished, hygienic rooms. The college has also ensured that a canteen, sports facilities, and a transport system are in place for students and staff.
Global College of Pharmaceutical Technology presently offers two full-time courses: 4 years Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) and 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma). These proposed courses have an approved intake of 60 each, thus totaling 120 seats for all programs together. This absolutely concentrated curriculum allows GCPT to maintain high standards in pharmaceutical education and provides individual attention to each student.
The admission process in GCPT is merit-based and comprises certain prescribed steps. For admission to the first year of the B.Pharma program, a candidate has to qualify in the WBJEE conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board or JEE (Mains) held for the current admission year. In the case of the D.Pharma program, a candidate has to qualify in JEXPO conducted by the State Council for Technical Education. These entrance examinations at all levels ensure that the College admits students with a good foundation in the concerned subjects. Affiliation of GCPT with entrance examinations of repute, such as WBJEE, in itself serves as an example of the institution's commitment towards high academic standards. A relatively new institution, the alumni network for GCPT is still developing but shall definitely turn out to be an important force in times to come.
