Gobardanga Hindu College, North 24 Parganas: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Gobardanga Hindu College is an affiliated institution established in 1947. This institute is spread over 9.91 acres of area and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in multiple disciplines. In total, 10,263 students are enrolled at the college and are served by 50 faculty members. The college offers 27 courses across 8 degrees. The Gobardanga Hindu College, with accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). In terms of students in the institute, there are nearly equal male and female ratio, where males account for 51%, while females represent 49%. 

College facilities have provisions for many varieties to support the students. The library is the knowledge platform of the institution, with rich resources in all disciplines. For the sports lovers, a big playground of ten bighas of area is there with fields for different outdoor games such as football, cricket, and volleyball. All the laboratories in science subjects are well-equipped. The Physics laboratory can conduct high-level experiments by using such machines as the high-tech ones, X-ray diffractometers, and LCR meters. All the students can have high-speed internet connectivity anywhere in the campus through Jio WiFi. The institution is equipping smart classrooms with an aim to engage and attract the student better with visual appeals towards the learning process. College provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls students. Gobardanga Hindu College is mainstream undergraduate course college and provides a variety of courses.

In total, the institute offers 27 courses, out of which are 24 undergraduate courses and 3 postgraduate courses. The undergraduate courses are available in all three streams, including Arts, Science, and Commerce. Bengali, English, Sanskrit can be pursued in the BA Hons program. B.Sc (Hons) is available in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. BCom and BEd are also available. MA can be pursued in Bengali, Education, and History at the postgraduate level.                             

Most undergraduate programs like BA (Hons) in Bengali, English, Sanskrit and B. Sc programs will make admissions strictly on merit basis considering the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In B. Ed programs, admissions will be strictly on merit basis considering the marks from the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination as per the state government and university policy.  It follows an equally merit-based approach toward its postgraduate programs.
