The Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital for men at Mysore was supposed to be founded in the year 1908 is a reputed centre of learning and treatment in Ayurveda. This affiliated college is based at Mysore, Karnataka and recognised from Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM). Located in a cramped area of 3 acres, the institute is providing 5 courses in 2 degree programmes with the total strength of 347 in the students. The college has a total of 30 faculties who provide quality education in the different specialisations in Ayurveda. Being an educational establishment, it has been able to provide the world with a full range of Ayurvedic practices for more than a century.

Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital for men makes a host of amenities available to students to aid their academic and personal development. The library also provides various essential books and documents related to Ayurvedic science and Ayurvedic journals. Practical needs are meet by well-equipped laboratories that facilitate the academic process of learning Ayurveda for the students. Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls separately, with an intention to provide fairly good accommodation to the out-station students. As for the extra curriculum facilities include sports amenities for physicals development and spirit of teamwork. It also has an auditorium to facilitate events and seminars and indeed the college has a lively academic environment. Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysore, provides a total of 5 full-time courses profile. These include one undergraduate programme (BAMS) offered at SPSU and four Postgraduate Programmes in the MD Ayurveda specialisation streams at Began Ayurveda Medical College. The overall intake approved for all the diverse courses is 122 and thereby creating plenty of chances for Ayurveda students. The basic course related to Ayurveda is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) but the Master of Ayurveda programmes provides higher study in sub-branches like Kayachikitsa, Samhitha and Siddanth, Swasthavritta and Panchakarma etc.

The Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysore, is a premier institution for Ayurvedic education in Karnataka. Admissions are on merit and are subject to the regulatory bodies. It supports a vigorous selection process. Admission to various programs at the institution is made on national and state entrance examinations. For the undergraduate programs (BAMS), admissions draw heavily on NEET scores for the all-India quota. Whereas CET fills state quota seats. The postgraduate MD Ayurveda programs are admitted-through AIAPGET (All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test).

The college usually does the admissions once a year during the regulatory body's academic calendar. All the information regarding the dates and deadlines will be made available through the college's official website and the examination authorities. Eligibility criteria vary according to the program. In the case of BAMS, candidates obtaining 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects are eligible. For MD Ayurveda programs, a BAMS degree from a recognized institution is mandatory. Application Process

Degree wise Admission Process

BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): The BAMS program at Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysore, consists of 100 seats. Admissions are based on NEET scores for the all-India quota and CET scores for the state quota. The duration of the course is 5.5 years inclusive of one-year internship. Candidates have to satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria defined in CCIM norms.

MD Ayurveda: The college is offering four different MD Ayurveda specializations with 22 seats in total:

  1. MD Ayurveda Kayachikitsa (7 seats)

Application for admission in all programs of MD Ayurveda is by AIAPGET. Candidates wilt have a degree of BAMS and fulfill other eligibility criteria stated by CCIM and the college itself.

College Infrastructure

Infrastructure is not so bad as it is very old college. Library facility is very good. Benches are good. There is no canteen in the college campus. Hospital facilities are very good for the patients.
