Government College of Education, Ratnagiri, was established in 1965. This college is one of the premier institutions undertaking teacher education in Maharashtra, India. Boarding Road, Ratnagiri, houses the institution, and it runs as a co-educational college under government ownership and as affiliated with the local university system. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is also approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).  The college campus stretches over 10.2 acres of land. Being a college with a strength of 60 students and a faculty strength of 3, the college sees to it that there is very customised attention and good student-teacher ratios are kept.
