Government College, Shahpur district of Betul in the year 2008 in Madhya Pradesh is a government college. This educational institution occupies a campus of 6 acres and offers a wide list of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for 1,171 of its students. This college with 10 dedicated faculty offers six programmes namely, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Social Work. It is New college but now it plays an important role for the higher education besides providing education to the students of Shahpur region.

Government College, Shahpur has a number of amenities intended to improve learning and general welfare of students in the institution. It is a heart of the institution; it sustains good academic atmosphere and offers students with an ample collection of books. Students interested in sports and games related activities the college presents better facilities. The ground which extends an approximate of 22,881 square meters of land of this university contains different sports like, Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Kho-Kho. The special and recreational attraction for indoor lovers include games like Badminton games, Chess, and Carrom that are available at the multi-purpose hall. The college is proud of its sports unit which has a history of participation and successes at zonal, inter zonal, university and Inter University levels.

Government College, Shahpur at the present time facilitates four regular programmes across various fields. These include three-year undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science i.e., BA, B.Com, and B. Sc respectively and a two-year post graduate course in social work MA Social work. The college admits a total of 1,171 students in all its courses to ensure overall quality education to many students in the region is provided.

Like many Other Colleges in Pakistan, admission at Government College, Shahpur is very smooth and open for all those who want to pursue their education. The entry to all the degree courses of this college is based on merit, meaning the marks scored in the plus two examinations are considered. For the postgraduate programme in Social Work, anyone who has completed their bachelor’s degree in any stream can apply for the course. Interestingly, the college does not state any entry credentials of undertake resultant to entrance examinations; implying that student enrollment depends on their performance in the previous relevant qualifying examination.
