GC Solan is a public University with its main campus situated at Solan town of Himachal Pradesh was set up in year 1959. This, an affiliated college and spread on a 9.5 Acre campus, has received accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university has a student strength of 4,043 and employs 59 faculty members; 36 courses are present across 11 different degree programmes. It consists of artistic and professional courses in Arts, Sciences and Commerce, and offers a vast number of specialisations.

GC Solan is a public University has many facilities for the support of its students’ necessities for education and other activities. The college has separate hostels for boys and girls, having a capacity of 50 inmates for boys and 60 for girls with twin sharing, dining halls and recreation rooms. The knowingly includes a good library, a sports complex, and a canteen. The current facilities include; internet connection, well equipped laboratories, and a gym. An auditorium is also available in the compound for events and seminars as well as Information Technology services for computer based learning and a business like health center with first aid equipment. The college offers 36 courses, out of which 11 are BA Honours courses like English, History, Political Science, and Economics and so on, each has the different intakes. The science stream B.Sc Honours with specialisations in Physics, Zoology and Mathematics is also offered.. The college also offers career oriented courses include BCA, BBA, B.com, vocational course B.Voc in Hospitality and Tourism and B.Voc in Retail Management etc. At post graduate level, the MA English and Master of Economics courses are offered. The total student enrolment across all courses is 4,043, making a credible statement on the college’s effective contribution to the overall growth of tertiary education enrolment across the area.
