Government Degree College, Amarwara, Chhindwara, which was established in 1984. This affiliated College, being NAAC accredited, provides a wide spectrum of under graduate and post graduate programmes. The college has 11 committed teachers who teach 3,555 students in total including 2,791 undergraduate and 764 postgraduate students. The institution boasts of having an approximate 50 / 50 gender split – the female students comprise of 52 % of the students taking undergraduate courses while 57% of the students in the postgraduate courses.

The Government Degree College offers a number of features aimed at developing the learning environment and the students themselves. The library currently has a collection of books amounting to about 400 books and it plays a constructive role to scholar activities. Facilities such as well-equipped departmental laboratories afford practical experience room especially for science students. Moreover, as a representative of a modern college, the institution has many facilities for using IT. From the perspective of all-round growth, there is provision for playing fields and gymnasium and an auditorial for cultural programmes and seminars. It also has an assessed cafeteria as well as sufficient parking space for both the student and the employees. The college fully supports and has an active alumni association network, which connects all the graduating college students to the institutions.

Out of the above courses offered a total of six courses offered in Government Degree College, Amarwara. The Undergraduate diploma courses comprise of the following; Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of commerce (B.Com), and two B.Sc programmes; one in the faculties of; Botany, Chemistry & Zoology and the other in the faculties of; Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Gradually at postgraduate level this college offers Masters Degree in Arts in Hindi and Political Science. All these courses are full-time programmes Undergraduate degree programme takes three years while post graduate degree programmes takes two years. Most of the colleges have diversified courses in order to create a way through which those students with different interests can be able to follow their careers.
