Government Dental College &Hospital, Jaipur (GDCH Jaipur) is a centre of learning for dental education and health care committed to date 1988. Opp to Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women University, Situated in Subash Nagar, Jhotwara Road, Jaipur, this affiliated college is spread across a 7.2 acre land. GDCH Jaipur is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI) for maintaining the quality education in the field of dentistry. The institute provides 8 courses at two degree levels which are BDS and different MDS specialisations. Currently, GDCH Jaipur has faculty strength of 30 well experienced professionals, its mission is to produce qualified dental practitioners and specialists.
The college has several amenities to help promote and develop student learning and over all growth and development. The library is both a storehouse of information and literature for this field of specialty as well as a source of numerous research materials. For those who need boarding, the school has two, Boys’ Hostel and Girls’ Hostel which provide a conducive place to live in. The GDCH Jaipur provides a wide specture of dental programmes: the single undergraduate programme, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), and seven master’s specialisations – Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). All courses are day-time, which opens deeper, practicing-oriented understanding of different aspects of dentistry. The BDS programme means a course leading to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery which admits 50 students per year whereas MDS programmes normally offer 2-5 seats per programme for each specialisation as stated below. The specialised courses offered will be Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Periodontology,Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Conservative dentistry and Endodontology, Pediatric and preventive dentistry, Oral and maxillofacial pathology & Oral microbiology.
The admission procedure followed by GDCH Jaipur involves merit base through which it follows a systematic approach. For the BDS programme admission is offered through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) which is offered for students intending to take dental and medical courses all over the country. Similarly for the MDS programmes candidates have to pass in the NEET MDS examination as well The MCI also announced its decision to implement Common Entrance Tests for the Postgraduate Medical Courses for the 2018-19 academic year. They help to open up facilities that only the deserving candidates can get admission to in the college. The academic session mostly runs in accordance with the national dental education plan, and the admission process is mostly initiated after the announcement of the NEET results.
