Government Engineering College, Khagaria is a rather new institute born in 2019 with the idea of serving the growing demands of quality technical education in Bihar. The affiliated college at Khagaria, Bihar, comes under the purview of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Although GEC Khagaria has come into being recently, it has grown rapidly as a budding centre of engineering studies, with different under-graduate programmes in B. Tech shaped by industry trends and harnessing the power of changing technology.
Although still in its developing stage, the college campus has all the requisite facilities for pursuing academics. There is a well-stocked library that acts as the knowledge hub of the institution for both the students and faculty. The resources in the library are such that they will satisfy almost all the disciplines of engineering and expose students to a huge source of technical literature, research papers, and reference materials. Additionally, Government Engineering College, Khagaria has also made investments in departmental laboratories, because practical experience forms an important component of engineering education. These labs will offer students the opportunity to practice on industry-standard equipment and software to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
GEC, Khagaria is presently offering five full-time B.Tech programs, each of four-year duration. Its course profile is a nice mix of traditional engineering branches and emerging technologies. These courses are a testimony to the commitment of the institution toward making the students ready for established industries and those that are continually evolving. These include Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Internet of Things. This wide range of specialisations has the advantage of allowing students to choose areas of interest and meet career objectives. The sanctioned intake of all these programs put together is 360.

The whole cycle is quite dependent on the academic year, which generally begins around August-September. Students wanting to get admission into the Government Engineering College, Khagaria have to appear either in JEE Main or BCECE. These two tests measure students' concepts in physics, chemistry, and mathematics that are all important for engineering streams. The exam date announcements and application process for JEE Main are done annually by the National Testing Agency, which is responsible for administering it. The BCECE is different with its own schedule, as stipulated by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board.
There are a number of steps under which the application process for admission to GEC Khagaria is carried out:
