Government First Grade College, Panchanahalli started in the year 1989 is a first-grade college for both boys and girls in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. This affiliated college located in a 2-acre campus provides the students with a number of undergraduate programmes and currently has 125 students. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the college which portray the quality consciousness of the college. Due to its faculty strength of 4, the institute is able to deliver sufficient care and attention to its students. At present college provides 5 courses in two different degrees; Arts & Commerce streams are the specialisation area to provide varieties in field of study.

Government First Grade College is equipped with many learning facilities aimed at improving the general education of its students. It complements its teaching function as a learning resource centre that avails a wide array of materials to the students. In addition for those who want physical activities, the college provides sports amenities for those who want to engage in those activities in order to have a balanced academic and athletic lives. There also is an alumni association in the institution to ensure that current students relate well with the alumni. Further, to support the students practically as per the requirement of the present world the college has accord great importance in setting up top notch IT facilities. Also worth mentioning is a health centre with first aid facilities that serves on campus with primary focus on students’ health considerations.

It has approximately 5 full time under graduate courses and they are offered at the Government First Grade College situate in Panchanahalli. These are four BA programmes with different fields of focus and one B.Com programme. The BA programmes which are available are History, Economic and Political Science, History Economics and Sociology, History Economics and Optional English and History Sociology and Optional Kannada.
