Government Institute of Forensic Science, Nagpur was established in 2011. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). GIFS Nagpur is affiliated with the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. The college offers courses in the full-time mode in streams of Law and Science. Government Institute of Forensic Science courses include Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Forensic Science, Master of Science (M.Sc) in Forensic Science, PGD Digital and Cyber Forensic and Related Law and PGD Forensic Science and Related Law. GIFS Nagpur M.Sc eligibility criteria are that the candidate must have passed B.Sc Forensic Science from a recognised university and for PGD the candidate must have passed a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. As per the NIRF 2023 report, out of 53 UG students 2 students were placed with Government Institute of Forensic Science median salary package of Rs 3,48,000 and 50 students opted for higher studies. 3 PG students were placed with a median salary package of Rs 4,00,000.
